At age 10, Brighton knitter gets national attention
BRIGHTON, Mich. (AP) - Despite only being ten years old, Kate
L'Esperance is getting lots of attention for her knitting.
The Brighton girl was one of six winners of this year's Schaefer
Yarn Company Design Contest, a national knitting competition. Her
entry was a colorful backpack that took her about a month to knit.
Kate says she's been knitting since she was four or five.
Her mother Laura L'Esperance owns a knitting shop in downtown
Brighton. She also entered the contest, and was another of the six
For winning, they're featured in the June edition of Knit 'N
Style magazine, a national knitting publication.
